After explaining to her about the traditions of the Claddagh Ring (even dating back to ancient Italy/Rome as friendship rings), she accepted immediately and put it on her right hand with the heart pointing toward her. Being a living woman on the land and soil (see annavonreitz.com) the birthstone was a nice touch as it represents a piece of the land representing herself, and to me it shows she holds my heart and I am committed to her.
